UNESCO held its second intergovernmental meeting on 18-22 March 2019 in Paris to adopt a text on the Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Diplomas. This meeting comes after the works that took place in December 2018.
The work on adopting a text on the Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Diplomas pursued the needs of all UNESCO member states and ensured by consensus. The text approved at the end of the debates sums up the international academic and professional mobility needs to ensure that applicants' rights to fair and transparent recognition of their diplomas are respected and that clear and non-discriminatory recognition procedures are implemented.
The text of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Diplomas in Higher Education will be submitted for adoption at the 40th UNESCO General Conference to be held in November 2019.
