Internal Market Information System

Internal Market is defined by Article 7 of the Treaty of Rome as an area without internal frontiers in which the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital is assured.

In the European Single Market, people, goods, services and capital flows as freely as between the territory of any Member State.

Internal Market Information System (IMI System) has been developed by the European Commission - Directorate General Informatics, under the coordination of DG Internal Market and Services, to facilitate communication between the competent authorities of the Member States of the European Economic Area through a web application -based IMI-NET.
