As a member of the ENIC / NARIC networks, CNRED participated yesterday, December 9, 2020, in the annual meeting of the Member Centers of the NARIC networks (National Centers for Academic Recognition and Information), organized by the European Commission, with the support of the European Council and UNESCO.

The annual meeting put on the agenda the most important moments and actions initiated and implemented for the recognition of studies, together with future projects focused on academic mobility and the internationalization of higher education: Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education, European Education Area - European Universities / Diploma European Union, exchanges on how the actions of the European Education Area affect recognition practices (digitization and quality assurance), as well as digital education from the perspective of students.

The NARIC network was established in 1984, its secretariat being provided by the European Commission whose members are the states of the European Union. The NARIC Centers support and assist in the implementation of the Lisbon Convention on the Recognition of Studies by the competent national authorities of the signatory States to the Convention. At the same time, they serve as a mechanism for multilateral cooperation within the UNESCO region of Europe and North America, while also connecting with other UNESCO regions.

The ENIC (European Network of National Information Centers) network was set up in 1994, in collaboration with UNESCO and the Council of Europe, as a co-secretariat. This network brings together the signatory countries of the Lisbon Convention, with the same responsibilities as the NARIC Centers.

The ENIC-NARIC network currently has 55 Member States, as an example of good practice in the recognition of studies for the development of new regional networks under the Conventions on the Recognition of Studies for Asia, the Middle East, Africa or Latin America.

The Romanian NARIC Center was created on December 1, 1995, based on Agreement no. 95-PECO-SOC-0019 concluded with the European Commission, as a component part of the SOCRATES National Agency. As a member of the ENIC / NARIC networks, the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas ensures, at national and international level, a permanent exchange of information and assistance regarding the education system and the legal status of educational institutions abroad. , as well as to the specific conditions of these institutions for obtaining the study documents.
