Until 31 December 2020, when the transition period for the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the EU takes place, the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications obtained in Great Britain by Romanian citizens and their family members is carried out under the same conditions. applicable to EU citizens, in accordance with relevant European and national regulations.
Thus, to date, the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED) applies the principle of automatic recognition of diplomas obtained in EU Member States (including the United Kingdom) or at prestigious universities around the world.
After the end of the transitional period, academic and professional recognition will be carried out in accordance with the procedures established for the recognition of qualifications obtained in non-EU countries, in compliance with the provisions of the Lisbon Convention and other relevant regulations. This involves evaluating the study programs pursued in the United Kingdom and applying compensatory measures if substantial differences are found, unless the diplomas have been obtained at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom..
In order to benefit from the advantages of the transition period, we recommend to all Romanian citizens and their family members who have studied in Great Britain to apply for the recognition of their studies!
CNRED makes available to the public an online diploma recognition tool, through the electronic Single Point of Contact (PCUe) - https://edirect.e-guvernare.ro, without excluding the possibility of sending the application and related documents by mail or express courier – www.cnred.edu.ro.
