At UNESCO's invitation, CNRED took part in the first general meeting of Member States, held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, on 5-7 December, to discuss a first text on a Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education.

This Convention brings together recently updated regional Conventions, namely the Lisbon Convention for the Europe and North America Region, the Asia-Pacific Tokyo Convention, the Adis-Abeba Convention for the Africa Region and the Future Convention for the Latin America - Caribbean Region.

The Global Convention will include the general principles for the recognition of qualifications in higher education as well as the rights and obligations of holders of these qualifications. UNESCO will hold a new workshop in March next year.
