The European Commission published on May 11, 2020 the report by which the diplomas of generalist nurse issued by Romanian educational institutions, issued before the date of accession to the European Union, will benefit from automatic recognition in the Member States of the European Union with the amendment of Directive 2005/36/EC.

Following the approach of the Ministry of Education and Research, the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED), as National Coordinator for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, proposed to the European Commission and the Member States, during the revision of Directive 2005/36 / EC on the recognition of qualifications including the diplomas of generalist nurse issued by educational institutions in Romania prior to the date of accession to the European Union.

The program was developed together with experts from the European Commission and the Member States, and subsequently, on the basis of the European Commission's report on its results, it was decided to amend the Directive in order to grant Member States automatic recognition of all diplomas issued by educational institutions from Romania.

The National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas, as the competent authority, has permanently transmitted to the European Commission all the information and clarifications necessary for the elaboration of the report on the implementation of the diploma recognition program.

This information and clarifications sent to the European Commission were provided by post-secondary schools and higher education institutions, as well as by the Order of General Nurses, Midwives and Nurses in Romania.
