The UNESCO headquarters hosted recently in Paris the work of the 8th meeting of the Lisbon Convention Committee on Recognition of Higher Education Studies. The Lisbon Convention is currently ratified by 54 states in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and other regions of the world, since Romania has been a signatory since 1998.
The works of the meeting focused on the analysis of the state of implementation of the Convention by transposing into national legislation and developing recognition tools, VII on the Recognition of Studies for Refugees and who can not provide supporting documents, as well as the interregional relations established under the other Recognition Conventions, such as the Tokyo Convention for the Asia Area, Addis Ababa for Africa and those for the Arab states and Latin America-Caribbean.
In support of the implementation of art. VII on the Recognition of Studies for Refugees and Can not Provide Documentary Evidence, the Council of Europe has already funded a project implemented by several ENIC-NARIC Centers, namely the European Refugee Qualifications Passport, about 300 such papers are available to facilitate the continuation of studies or the employment of refugees on the labor market.
On this occasion, the Committee adopted "Guidelines for online online information systems", which provide the minimum elements that ENIC Information Center websites should contain and the new format for the Diploma Supplement, a tool developed by the Lisbon Convention and the Bologna Declaration. The new Diploma Supplement format is intended to facilitate the completion and understanding of this school document, without restructuring existing information or introducing new elements.
